What is Student Services?
Engineering Student Services is more than an advising center. We are here to assist you, the student, in your academic journey and provide guidance from your entry point into the university through your entire scholastic career. Our office:

  • Handles undergraduate admissions for the college and academic departments,
  • Conducts orientation for new freshmen and transfer students,
  • Offers programs and resources for new and continuing students to help achieve student academic success,
  • Certifies graduation for all degree programs in the college.
Although our services are primarily for undergraduate students, we try to be the “one stop shop” for engineering students as a whole. If you would like to speak with someone please feel contact us at one of the phone numbers or e-mails listed below.

Engineering Student Services values and promotes an academic environment that is characterized by trust, respect, integrity, professionalism, and inclusiveness.

Meet the Student Services Advisors

Please visit our offices soon to find out how an Academic Advisor can make a positive difference in your academic experience! While appointments are not necessary, they are recommended for more comprehensive sessions. Continuing students should schedule an appointment for academic advising at least once every semester.

A Word from the Director of Advising

As an academic advisor I have assisted hundreds of students as they worked to complete their educations. Many have faced, and found the strength to overcame, great difficulties. Each student possesses unique talents and abilities and I personally believe that every student accepted by USF has what it takes to succeed. The advisors in the Office of Engineering Student Services strive to create an environment where each student is given the utmost respect. It is our objective to maintain an atmosphere that allows an individual to express concerns freely, in \confidence and without fear of reprisal.
On a personal note, I am an alumnae of USF as is my daughter. My son is a current student. USF is very much a part of our family!
You should schedule an appointment to see me if:
  • You would like to discuss your goals, objectives or other matters.
  • You have a suggestion that would improve student advising or student relations in the College.
  • You do not feel that the College has adequately addressed your advising needs or feel your rights have been violated.

Please feel free to contact me at any time with your questions and comments. Remember, you are encouraged to make an appointment to see an Engineering Advisor at least once each semester. This affords us an opportunity to provide you with information about services and programs designed to enhance your academic experience. In addition, we very much welcome the opportunity to get to know you better. We are here to serve you and to advocate for you and for your academic success.

Patricia Homer - Academic Advisor (+/-)

ARC representative, Graduation Certification Officer, VA Certification

I have been a staff member here at the University of South Florida for the past fourteen years and have been an Academic Advisor here in the College of Engineering since October, 2001. Previously I worked in the Department of Biology as both the Undergraduate and Graduate Program Assistant. I have three children, all married now, and am the proud grandmother of little Courtney, born in May, 2002, to my son Chris and his wife. I have a son, Patrick, who is a Civil Engineer so I know a lot about Engineering students and all that they are capable of. One of the gifts which I bring to engineering students is to help you better deal with the bureaucracy and various departments you have to come into contact with here on our big campus.

In addition to advising students who are entering our College, one of my primary responsibilities is graduation certification. If you have any questions concerning your admission or graduation with the College of Engineering and everything else in between, please stop by and see me!

John Morgan - Academic Advisor (+/-)

ELLC Coordinator, Orientation Coordinator

Hello!

I began at USF in the fall of 2001 and earned a Master of Education degree specializing in College Student Affairs in May of 2003.  My professional experience in higher education began in the USF Office of Financial Aid where I worked as an aid counselor. During the spring of 2004, I transitioned to the Center for Academic Advising where I served as an academic advisor to undecided undergraduates. In the summer of 2005 I joined the College of Engineering – Engineering Student Services as an academic advisor.

My primary advising emphasis is assisting first-year College of Engineering undergraduate students and coordinating the Engineering Living and Learning Community (ELLC).  I also work with a new program to track the academic progress of first-year College of Engineering students.  My fellow advisors and I work together to assist and advise the students of the College of Engineering.

I look forward to helping you meet your academic goals and encourage you to contact me with whatever questions you may have.
