Machine Shop
The College of Engineering Machine Shop is a full service machine shop and wood shop that supports research, course requirements and student organizations. The facility has two highly skilled machinists who provide technical support for faculty, staff and students with a combined industrial and academic experience of more than 70 years.
The Shop is a multi-purpose machining facility, including a fully equipped wood shop capable of meeting most design needs. The Shop and its staff specialize in research and academic environments, testing fixtures and fabrications of all sizes. Our services are available to all departments in the College of Engineering as well as other colleges and academic departments at the University of South Florida.
The machine shop offers:
- Design assistance, repairs, fabrication and assembly using a wide range of materials, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, plastics and wood
- Full complement of modern precision tooling and machinery, including CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machining using FeatureCAM® CNC software that can convert SolidWorks and AutoCAD data to meet your design needs
- Our shop is fully equipped with various welders including TIG, MIG, Stick welders and a Plasma Cutter
- Our wood shop offers a wide variety of woodworking machinery, equipment and hand tools for milling, drilling and cutting wood and plastic
