Lab 6 - Modeling using TK Solver
Fluidized Bed Dryer Modeling
Project
Fluidized Bed Dryer Problem Statement:
Porous polymer drug encapsolated spheres are to be
dried in Fluidized Bed Dryer.
Model Assumption:
Modeled
as single sphere in flowing fluid with no interaction
(sticky contact) among the spheres
Fluidized Bed Dryer Project Objectives:
The objective is to estimate and then report the values for the:
Mass Transfer Coefficient
Heat Transfer Coefficient
Minimum Fluidization Velocity
Procedure
Each section will
separate into four member teams. Each team
will be assigned, by
the instructor, to model one of U-Betch-um's
products from the list
below.
Product List (Please note that All U-Betch-um
products are green friendly)
1) Poly-put-the-kettle-on:
This wonder drug will make all the good looking children
of Lake Wobagon down right ugly. It enters the fluidize
bed dryer as individual spheres saturated with Benzene.
2) Goop-day-jour
The perfect pill for the perfect pill.
It enters the fluidize
bed dryer as individual spheres saturated with Water.
3)Blivit
Cures nothing that ails you. It enters
the fluidize dryer
as individual spheres saturated with Ethanol.
4) Mile-high
Stops nose bleeds as it removes the nose.
It enters the
fluidized dryer as individual spheres saturated
with Hexane.
5) PoncePill
Makes you old before you know it It enters the fluidize
bed dryer as individual spheres saturated
with Methanol.
6) Wisdumb
The political drug of choice. It
enters the fluidize
bed dryer as individual spheres saturated
with Naphthalene.
Action Items
(a) All Teams will need to find (try
the library
{that tall
building as you come on campus}) values for;
